Lacrosse

With Spring comes lacrosse season once again!   I'm a captain on the JV team, which I am okay with, however I do have some sad news.  This will be my last year of lacrosse.  I tried out again for the varsity team, went on the Spring Break trip, and was cut again for the second year in a row.  Last year, the coaches noted "speed and decisions in a game".  As a result, I started on JV last year and played a club team last summer.  This year, the coaches noted "not being able to stop an attacker", "wouldn't make contributions to the varsity program", "ability to move up and down the field" and basically told me to think twice before trying out again next year.  This is the last year I am eligible to play on JV and instead of wasting months of effort and being cut out of program next year, I'm going to stop while I'm ahead and get back into horseback riding, which I've been thinking about more and more lately.  Honestly, I've just lost respect for the varsity coaches and I'm way more happy on JV this year than I would have been on Varsity.  There are six other tenth graders on JV this year and we've grown really close which I enjoy.  I've learned a lot from tryouts this year and I just look at this whole experience as a lesson to be learned and a small bump in the road.

Packing Essentials: Luggage

While I was on Spring Break, I got to thinking about my packing essentials since I have traveled extensively over the past year.  This will be the first of many, as camp is only 74 days away and I have begun to pack for my month there!  Today's post is all about LUGGAGE!

I have owned this bag for about 5 years and I have it in lime green, which makes it super easy to find in Airports.  It fits everything and is very easy to roll around.

I always use this as my "dopp kit" for when I travel and it easily fits all of my toiletries and is perfect to hang up!

These were all the rage in middle school and are perfect for overnights and sleepovers!

I have a smaller one of these in my sports bag to store my jewelry in while I'm at practice and switch it to my purse when traveling.  It keeps my jewelry well organized and easy to keep track of.

When traveling with dresses and suits, a garment bag is a must.  I have one for when I'm getting ready at a friends house before a dance or party so my dress stays wrinkle-free.

I always have one of these in my purse while travelling to keep my makeup and other liquids so I know exactly where they are in my bag!

What luggage do you use when you travel?

Spring Break!

hLe and I!

This is super late, but I had such a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break in Hilton Head!  We stayed in Sea Pines in a beautiful house overlooking the golf course.  We arrived on Wednesday and went to Casey's which had fantastic food.  Thursday and Friday we had two-a-day lacrosse practices and biked around the island during our breaks.  I absolutely loved biking to Harbourtown and South Beach - the shopping was excellent! While we were at Harbourtown,  I went into S.M. Bradford Co. and looked around.  It was one of the best Lilly Pulitzer stores I have ever been into and the employees were so nice.  I also got a frozen Arnold Palmer at the Cinnamon Bear and it was delicious!  Friday night we went to the Salty Dog Cafe in South Beach.  The food was delicious and it's fun to say that now I've been there! On Saturday we played two local teams and we won both games!  I truly enjoyed my Spring Break and am happy that I got to relax.  Have you had your Spring Break yet? How was it?

And now, I'm driving myself to school!

What Royar's Reading

A really quick, Southern read.  Written very well, but the ending left me wanting more.  The story lines seemed a little rushed to be tied up to end the book.

Textbook Nicholas Sparks, but still very good.

PLEASE go get this book and read it.  It starts off as a typical romance, but twists into a very suspenseful mystery! A must-read!

I had never read any Emily Giffin and I have been dying to read this book! It was so good and I can't wait for the movie!

Have you read any of these books? What have you been reading lately?

Looks For Less - Jack Rogers

vs.

Normally I don't buy knock-offs but the Merona Sandals are just too cute to resist!  I don't think that I would ever buy pink Jacks; I already have a platinum pair and I think my next purchase will be a white pair!  I think these are a great buy as a "test" pair if someone is unsure as to whether they like the style!

They also come in Platinum
and White/Gold

What do y'all think? Would you ever buy these?

SB2K11

Things standing between me and Spring Break 2011:

6 classes
One AP Euro lecture
Turning in a paper that I've been working on for nearly 6 months
One lacrosse practice

Here is the pledge page for my Wuthering Heights paper that I'm turning in tomorrow.  I'm super excited about it and it was really fun to make!  The paper? Not so fun. As of Thursday, March 3rd, 2011 at 9:48 PM I had 4,222 words and 14 pages.  Did I mention I've been working/reading/researching this paper since October? I can't believe it's finally over today.

I am ready to relax this afternoon and I have some fun things planned for the week:

Get a mani/pedi
Finish application for Op Smile Mission Training
Fill out devotions and cabin night forms for CAMP!
Go to yoga a few times
Visit my local Lilly store
and....
Go to Hilton Head for a lacrosse tournament!

Are you doing anything exciting on your Spring Break?
