Hurricane Sandy Goes to School

After a very relaxing day off, we are on a two hour delay this morning! I'm ambivalent about having no school/delayed school as I have Friday off already.

But seeing as the temperature has dropped exponentially and it's very windy and rainy, I will be bundling up for a blizzard tomorrow!

Cheers to Bean Boot Tuesday!

Hurricane Sandy

I feel like I literally have a post about this every year. The hatches have been battened down (i.e. I actually rolled up my car windows), preparations taken (I found my bean boots and got two new books from the library), and Sandy Watch 2012 is in full effect.

As I told someone yesterday, the inconveniences I have this weekend are that one, Mittens canceled his rally here, and two, that I'll probably have to drive the Suburban if I go into town at all.

Stay dry my friends!

Thankful

Although it's nowhere near Thanksgiving, it's always the right time to give thanks for the things in our lives.

Today, I am thankful for:
Sore muscles, because it means I'm able to feel my legs
Races to have anxiety over, because it means I have another race in my career to run
Crying over SAT scores and scholarships, because it means I have too many blessings to count
Tweeting my political opinons, because it means I still have my right to free speech
Watching movies in school, because sometimes our brains need a break
It's Friday, because I really need a weekend too!

What are you thankful for this week?

Debate #3

As of 8:30 EST, I am officially done with my speech! Yipee!

Hopefully later this week I'll have time to organize my thoughts into a post about politics, but for now, I want to hear opinions on last night!

I thought it was a great debate! I loved Obama's zinger about "The 1980s wanting their foreign policy back", although it was misguided, I am definitely guilty of saying the same phrase! But there were some very good points by Mitt Romney, and he sounds very Reagan-esque.

I especially loved Mitt Romney's comments. It was so fireside chat esque, I felt like he was sitting in my living room!

What did you think? What was your favorite quote or zing?

Tomorrow

Macbeth, Act 5 anyone?

Tomorrow is the big day! I can't believe my speech is almost here! I can't wait to give it, but really, I'm so tired of it. As I was walking on the beach with my Mom last night, I couldn't help but think as we talked, about how pathetic it is that I have a "post-speech" to do list.

I'm just so ready to have my life back, and not be worrying about meeting with someone or editing it or making sure it's perfect or finding my dress or practicing or fixing that one sentence for the literally millionth time or finding that perrrrrrfect post-speech congrats gift (wink, wink, Mumz).

I'll be back on Wednesday with some pictures and a recap!

TFTW: The Now

This week is going to be all about living in the now. There are so many fun things this week: I get to see my brother, my Senior speech, Senior day for Cross-Country, and my SAT scores come back! In short, I'm super excited about this week, something I haven't honestly felt in a long time. But I can only enjoy it if I live it one moment at a time.

Oh, The Places You'll Go!

Can anyone guess where I'm off to today?

It's one of my favorite cities ever, and a place that I hope to end up in!

Getting warmer?

Today is my senior class trip to Washington D.C.! We'll be touring the Holocaust museum as a class, and then we're free to explore the museums on the mall on our own in the afternoon!

I wish I could stay the night and visit Georgetown and have some M Street fun, but that's for another day!

Happy Wednesday!

Tiller

Yesterday was one of those let's see how much can awfulness can be put in one day kind of days. It was cold, rainy, and just a downright miserable day. I really couldn't put my finger on what was wrong, and it was driving me crazy all day. And then I remembered, that one year ago yesterday, my sweet Tiller passed away.

His death was so unexpected, and I can't lie, I can't really think about him for too long without crying.  Hug your dog for me today, because I would give so much to have Tiller back for one more day.

Dogs aren't our whole lives, but they really do make our lives whole.

Speech Stylin'

My senior speech is two weeks away...eep! Naturally, I'm a tad bit more concerned about looking fabulous and kick-butt-esque, so I'm on the mad hunt for a great dress.

Here are my top contenders:

What do y'all think?

My Life, Instagrammed

The past few weeks have been a flurry of college essay writing, Diet Coke drinking, and lots and lots of speech writing. Cheers to being less than two weeks out from it all being over!

A Great Debate!

In case you missed it last night, what an amazing debate! Two lost twitter followers, literally 200 tweets, one retweet by The Young Conservatives, and plenty of laughs later, I was totally debated-out when I went to bed last night.

No matter what party you vote for, I think everyone can agree that the Romney's win for best looking family, hands down.

Did you watch last night?

Mitt Romney Style

First,
Just to make sure everyone knows.

Secondly,

Because what good are we if we can't laugh at our own party?

What Royar Read: September

Unfortunately, most of my reading this month was spent on school books (Struggling Giant) and speech research, so I hope that October will bring plenty of new 'free' reads!

October y'all!

This month is going to be super busy, between my senior speech, trip to D.C., last home cross-country meet, homecoming, the end of my first marking period (1/4 done!), and dressing up for Halloween, I'm not going to stop! However, I'm super excited about the start of fall, and today I'm wearing my riding boots for the first time!

Rabbit rabbit!
